Frontier Library
A point-in-time library of NSW building and fire safety regulation, indexed by edition, page and clause.
- Name
- Frontier Library
- One-line purpose
- A point-in-time library of NSW building and fire safety regulation, indexed by edition, page and clause.
- Who it is for
- NSW fire protection firms and the accredited fire safety assessors in them, who assess a fire safety measure against the standard it was first designed and installed to.
- Status
- Concept, set on 8 Nov 2026. What the labels mean
- What exists today
- The library exists: it is built from the owner's copies of the published editions, one edition at a time. The Evidence view on the home page is its public demonstration: a hydrant clause and a smoke alarm clause followed from one edition to the next, each quote checked word for word against its page.
- How to get access
- The design-partner pilot is open to invited NSW fire protection firms. To ask, email the address below or read the pilot page.
- What data it reads and writes
- It reads the owner's copies of the published editions. It writes its own index: the edition, page and clause of each requirement. This website reads nothing from the library's systems and writes nothing to them.
- What it quotes and what it only references
- The Evidence view quotes short printed passages from Ordinance 70 and the Building Code of Australia as a free demonstration, each one acknowledged. Evidence notes describe each requirement in our own words and cite its edition, page and clause. Australian Standards are named by designation and clause number only. The sources page sets out each publisher's licence.
- What it does not do
- It does not certify a building, give legal advice or decide which code applied to a particular approval. It does not republish a publisher's text except where the licence allows it. It is reference information for a qualified person to check.
- Pricing
- No price is shown on this site. The pilot has a small fixed monthly fee, credited against a first subscription.
